Concept images shown - final project completed 2018
Our projects go through a series of design iterations as we work with the clients to refine their vision and needs. Here we are showcasing some of the early massing and facade treatment concepts for the Atkinson Commons project. While none of these were the final design, they provided valuable understanding of the building form. In one concept deep recesses are offset and the building form is clad in vertical terra cotta siding.
Terra cotta is traded for traditional cedar siding in another concept, with large offset masses of weathering steel on the primary facade. The steel extends around to create guardrails at the balconies and accent other facade elements. Deep window recesses remain prominent.
Finally a more traditional schoolhouse massing, which trades the deep recesses for a pattern of repeating punched openings, some infilled with painted metal panels. The cladding is again vertical terra cotta.
